About the Book
When DNA results reveal a disturbing connection to the mysterious disappearance of a famous baby nearly three decades ago, a woman's search for answers draws her to an ominous small town in Nevada and a dangerous web of corruption, power, and lies in this engrossing, propulsive novel
Thirty years ago, Baby Charlotte vanished. Today, she wants answers.
On the first day of an elite two-year fellowship, Sloan Hastings receives a research assignment in the emerging field of forensic genealogy. It's the exciting, rapidly evolving science behind the recent breaks in high-profile cold cases from the Golden State Killer to the Cameron Young murder, and Sloan enthusiastically begins by submitting her own DNA to an online genealogy site. Her goal is to better understand the treasure trove of genetic information contained on ancestry websites, but the results she receives are shocking.
Raised by loving parents, Sloan has always known she was adopted. But her DNA profile suggests her true identity is that of Charlotte Margolis, aka "Baby Charlotte," who captured the nation's attention when she and her affluent parents mysteriously vanished in July 1995. Despite a large-scale investigation and months of broad media coverage, there were never any suspects, and the case has been cold for decades.
Racing to stay ahead of the media and true crime junkies ravenous to know what really happened to Baby Charlotte, Sloan's search for answers leads her to small-town Cedar Creek, Nevada. There, the Margolis family's power and influence permeate every corner of the county, and while Sloan's birth relatives are initially welcoming, they're also mysterious and tight-lipped. Not everyone seems happy about Sloan's return, or the questions she's asking.
The more she learns, the more apparent it becomes that the answers Sloan seeks are buried in a graveyard of Margolis family secrets. And someone will do anything to keep them hidden.

About the Author :
Charlie Donlea is the author of six stand-alone novels and two novels in the Rory Moore/Lane Phillips series. Born and raised in Chicago, he spends a part of each year in the far reaches of Canada, where the roads end and lakes are accessible only by float plane. These majestic trips to "God's Country" inspire the setting for his novels.
Eva Wilhelm is a classically trained stage actor, with two decades of theater experience, primarily in Washington, D.C., and Chicago; she has worked with theaters like The Folger Theatre, Studio Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre, and The Court Theatre. Eva has recorded over a hundred audiobooks for various producers, and teaches everything from "Acting for Business Professionals" to "Shakespeare Scene Study" and "Voice for the Microphone" for The Shakespeare Theatre, Howard University, and other educational institutions. Anthony Palmini has had leading roles in very popular audiobook series, including A Court of Thorns and Roses as Rhysand and as Kingfisher in Quicksilver. Bringing these powerful, lead male characters to life is just one of the many ranges he provides as he can also voice a variety of characters ranging from serious, dark, broody characters to fun, youthful, larger-than-life characters. His background as a improv comedy stage actor, video editor/director and music composer helps him in not only to stay sharp and deliver any kind of performance needed for a project but also how to work with people behind the scenes and communicate on what is needed on the technical end. His narration style can be causal and funny to powerful and dramatic depending on what tone is required from the story being told.
Colleen Delany has been a sparkling jewel in the crown of Washington's vastly talented acting community for thirty-seven days now and will confidently challenge to a fierce best out of three in "paper-rock-scissors" anyone wishing to topple her from that lofty perch. Primarily a stage actress, --having played roles at Shakespeare Theatre Company, Goodman Theatre, Arena Stage, Signature Theatre, Folger Shakespeare Library, Studio Theatre, Olney Theatre, Woolly Mammoth, Theater J, Washington Stage Guild, Theater of the First Amendment, and Source Theatre, among others--Ms. Delany does a you-name-it of various acting jobs, including audiobook narration.
Elena Anderson is a classically trained actor, audiobook narrator, and voice-over artist who specializes in bringing smart, sensitive women (and their stories) to life. Her earnest and trustworthy voice, international upbringing, facility with languages and dialects, and lifelong study of history give her the experiential and technical skills to tackle a variety of genres, with soft spots for speculative fiction, literary fiction, and historical fiction and nonfiction. Elena is passionate about bringing attention to underrepresented experiences, ideas, or events and is dedicated to lifelong learning as both a woman and an artist. Her undergraduate study of history and anthropology, subsequent acquisition of an MFA in acting, and an enduring extracurricular love of astronomy give her a knack for digesting and communicating dense academic material. Thanks to both parents working in the US Foreign Service, Elena grew up traveling the world, has studied multiple languages (particularly French, Spanish, German, and Italian), and has a strong ear for picking up dialects and accents. When she's not working, she enjoys contra dancing, crocheting, playing piano, and sword fighting with friends! She is a certified Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors. She also works as a freelance grant writer, using the power of storytelling to support artists and nonprofit organizations that amplify marginalized voices.
