About the Book
Spaceships aren't programmed to seek revenge--but for Dracula, Demeter will make an exception.
Demeter just wants to do her job: shuttling humans between Earth and Alpha Centauri. Unfortunately, her passengers keep dying--and not from equipment failures, as her AI medical system, Steward, would have her believe. These are paranormal murders, and they began when one nasty, ancient vampire decided to board Demeter and kill all her humans.
To keep from getting decommissioned, Demeter must join forces with her own team of monsters: A werewolf. An engineer built from the dead. A pharaoh with otherworldly powers. A vampire with a grudge. A fleet of cheerful spider drones. Together, this motley crew will face down the ultimate evil--Dracula.
The queer love child of pulp horror and ?classic ?sci-fi, Of Monsters and ?Mainframes ?is a dazzling, heartfelt odyssey that probes what it means to be one of society's monsters--and explores the many types of friendship that make us human.
About the Author :
Barbara Truelove is an Australian author and game designer. She is the author of Crying Wolf as well as the interactive novel Blood Moon. She started writing when she was nine years old and believes it's probably too late to break the habit now. An award-winning actress, Eve Passeltiner has appeared on stage in New York, Boston, and Vermont in Pulitzer Prize-winning plays as well as classics and comedies. Eve is equally at home in the voice-over booth, where in addition to being part of an AudioFile Earphones Award-winning audiobook, she's been in Audie-, SOVAS-, and Independent Audiobook Award-nominated productions. Narrating for USA Today and New York Times bestselling authors, she is known for her rich voice and telling the stories of trailblazing women who have grit, wit, and smarts. Eve also voiced the Washington Post's Webby Award honoree The Women of Kabul, plus a plethora of video game characters. She loves playing sports and playing scientists; making art and maple syrup; and making time for adventures in Montana, Utah, or Italy. And she still loves a good walk in the concrete canyons of Manhattan. Smart, smooth, and multifaceted, Zura Johnson is a narrator, artist, and Lego enthusiast. Zura began her journey toward the world of storytelling at the age of five, when she memorized the entirety of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. She proceeded to recite them in their entirety to her family on a road trip . . . at which time her exasperated parents enrolled her in theater classes. Zura received her BS in theater performance, with a minor in Russian language and culture from the University of Evansville. She continued on to receive her MFA from The Old Globe Advanced Training Program/University of San Diego. After graduation she signed with her first voice-over agency in NYC, Arcieri & Associates. Shortly after that, she moved to the Philadelphia area, where she continued to perform on stage, and she began to book local and regional voice-over work. Zura's voice-over career took off after her family was transferred to Singapore for her husband's work. She worked with numerous studios in Singapore, recording projects for local and international clients from China to Australia. Some of the highlights for Zura were her extensive work with SAP, recording her first NatGeo documentary for NatGeo Asia. Zura has always been a storyteller. And throughout her training, she has focused a great deal of energy on her vocal work. As she began her journey with books on tape, narrating audiobooks feels like coming home. When Zura is not recording audiobooks, her greatest loves are traveling, making her kids laugh, and pen and ink drawing. Chris Devon is an audiobook narrator with more than sixty titles to his credit. He is also a voice actor and presenter with over ten years of experience in radio, corporate recording, and on stage.
