About the Book

It's Our School, It's Our Time outlines a whole-school approach to teacher-pupil collaboration, illustrating how aspects of social inequality can be addressed by involvement in the school community and active participation in decision-making from an early age. The book presents insights into the psychological processes that are at work when pupils and teachers share decision-making, and how this can harness and increase motivation for teachers and pupils.

Combining both theory and examples of practice, this book provides clarity about the impact of collaborative decision-making and how it can help pupils to take ownership of their classrooms and promote greater cooperation and productivity. This book:

● Draws on stories from Dr. Rowe's own study and experiences, and the accounts of other educators and researchers

● Shows how teachers and school leaders have overcome common hurdles that those in conventional schools might encounter

● Provides research-evidence and practical examples from real-life classrooms

This companion guide will help teachers to transform achievement, behavior, and motivation through greater collaboration with their pupils.

About the Author :
Geraldine Rowe has worked as an educational psychologist for over thirty years in several United Kingdom Local Authorities, in over a hundred schools, nurseries, and colleges. Originally from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in Northeast England, audiobook narrator Pearl Hewitt currently lives with her husband and two children in Houston, Texas. Over the years she has worked as a customer service rep, a teaching assistant, and a teacher, but deep down there was always a performer wanting to get out. In 2007 her twelve-year-old son told her that he believed she was so good at reading stories out loud that she should do that as a job. That was her defining, eureka! moment, and she's never looked back. Pearl discovered the world of voice-overs and pursued a career in voice acting. She attended workshops, training seminars, and conferences, and began volunteering as the resident mystery and suspense narrator for Houston Sight-Into-Sound Radio, where her work earned numerous IAAIS awards for narration and production. In 2012 Pearl decided to focus on audiobooks, and her professional career blossomed while working directly with authors and narrating for a number of major publishers. Pearl's voice is perfectly suited to British Regency romance and cozy murder mysteries, but her personal favorites are the classics, especially children's literature. Stevie Zimmerman has been narrating and producing audiobooks since 2013. A native of England and proudly still sounding British despite living in the USA since 1993, Stevie is the voice of close to 300 stories, most of them period romances and Jane Austen fan fiction. With a background in the theatre, and an ongoing professional career as a director, Stevie finds the drama and compassion in both forms to be deeply satisfying and complementary.
