About the Book

Classroom management is never a problem for the teachers they make movies about! Want a class like theirs, no matter what grade or subject you teach or how many students you have? Learn the ten ideas you can use today to create the classroom any great movie teacher would love. Utah English Teacher of the Year and sought-after speaker Mike Roberts brings you ten quick and easy classroom management hacks that will make your classroom the place to be for all your students. He shows you how to create an amazing learning environment that actually makes discipline, rules, and consequences obsolete, no matter if you're a new teacher or a thirty-year veteran teacher. Teachers they make movies about are innovative, engaging, and beloved. Hacking Classroom Management is about putting the F word--FUN--into your teaching, and Mike Roberts shows you how to do this, while meeting your standards and teaching your curriculum. Hacking Classroom Management shows you how to build lasting relationships with your students, maximize teaching time, reduce behavior issues, enhance student ownership, and improve parental involvement.

About the Author :
Mike Roberts has taught middle school English for the past twenty years. In that time, he has received numerous awards for his outstanding teaching, including being named the 2014 Utah English Teacher of the Year. Mike also teaches college classes focused on classroom management and literacy in the content areas. Additionally, he has served on many educational committees, and has been a featured speaker at dozens of state, regional, and national conferences. Mike's most recent book, Chasing Greatness: 26.2 Ways Teaching Is Like Running a Marathon, breaks down the many similarities between the classroom and the road. In the process, he shares advice from some of the best teachers and runners from across the country as a way to help you reach your highest potential. He is also the author of Hacking Classroom Management: 10 Ideas to Help You Become the Type of Teacher They Make Movies About, which identifies a variety of strategies that empower students in the learning process. Finally, he is coauthor of The New Science Teacher's Handbook: What You Didn't Learn From Student Teaching, and was a featured columnist in English Journal. When he's not teaching or presenting, Mike can usually be found running ultra-marathons in the mountains. And even after all these years, he's still not sure which takes more energy . . . a week with eighth graders or a one-hundred-mile race. Stephen R. Thorne, winner of multiple AudioFile Earphones Awards for narration, is a professional actor and member of the resident acting company at Providence's esteemed Trinity Repertory Company, where he has played Hamlet, Henry V, and Tom Joad.
