About the Book

ARE YOU LETTING YOUR EMPLOYEES SHINE? Today's workplace is a pressure cooker-- even the most talented people struggle to sort through an influx of information, relentless demands, and unprecedented stress. And so your job as manager becomes even harder. How, in a world of intensifying competition and economic stress, can you help people shine their brightest and perform at their best, day in and day out? How can you keep your star players inspired? In Shine, bestselling author, psychiatrist, and ADD expert Edward Hallowell combines brain science with performance research to offer a proven process to help you do just that. Hallowell's five-step process pulls from his own work of helping people overcome their problems to become more productive in everyday life. Shine will help you: SELECT: Put the right people in the right jobs, and give them responsibilities that "light up" their brains. CONNECT: Strengthen interpersonal bonds among team members. PLAY: Help people unleash their imaginations at work. GRAPPLE AND GROW: Enable employees to overcome pressure to achieve mastery of their work. SHINE: Use the right rewards to stimulate loyalty and people's desire to excel. Brimming with the candor and warmth that millions of readers have come to expect, Hallowell's Shine is a vital new resource for all managers seeking to inspire excellence in their teams.
