About the Book

The threshold has already been crossed. Most people just haven't noticed yet.

Artificial General Intelligence is not a distant horizon. It is arriving in stages, right now, in the form of AI agents that reason, plan, and act autonomously - and the world is not ready. Not governments. Not businesses. Not workers. Not the institutions that took centuries to build.

The AGI Threshold is the book for people who refuse to be surprised.

Written by Lon Forehand - AI policy analyst, 24-year Congressional affairs veteran, and NASA policy expert - this is not a technical manual or a utopian promise. It is a clear-eyed, urgent, and specific account of what is already happening, what is coming in the next eighteen months, and what every government, business, worker, and citizen must do before the window closes.

What this book covers:

The AGI Threshold takes readers from the technical realities of where AI capability actually stands today - not the hype, not the fear, the facts - through the agent revolution that is quietly eliminating entire categories of knowledge work, into the new economy of solopreneurs and AI-powered one-person enterprises that is replacing the traditional employment model, and out the other side to the geopolitical battle for AI infrastructure that will determine who controls the most powerful technology in human history.

Chapter by chapter, Forehand dismantles the comfortable assumptions: that AI displacement is still theoretical, that regulation is catching up, that the benefits will spread naturally, that we have more time. He replaces those assumptions with something more valuable - specific analysis, named policy gaps, and actionable steps that workers, entrepreneurs, educators, and policy makers can take right now.

Nine chapters. Nine urgent arguments:

- AGI is closer than anyone in mainstream media is willing to admit
- AI agents are no longer advising humans - they are acting for them
- Job displacement has already moved from forecast to documented fact
- The solo entrepreneur with AI tools now outcompetes teams of ten
- "AI democratization" is a slogan without a delivery mechanism - yet
- Governments know more about the risks than they are legislating against
- The machines we are deploying cannot yet be fully trusted - and we are deploying them anyway
- The moral and legal systems built for a human world are breaking against an AI one
- Control of AI infrastructure is the defining geopolitical contest of this generation

Who this book is for:

This book is for entrepreneurs who want to move before their competitors understand what is happening. For policy makers who are governing a technology they do not yet understand. For workers who feel the ground shifting and want to know which direction to run. For educators who are teaching students for a world that no longer exists. And for anyone who has watched the AI headlines accumulate and concluded, correctly, that something fundamental is changing - and wants to understand it at the level where decisions get made.

About the author:

Lon Forehand spent 24 years working at the intersection of technology policy and Congressional affairs, including budget and policy work for NASA and major aerospace contractors. He has tracked AI development intensively since November 2022 and publishes AGI Coming Soon, one of the most direct and analytically rigorous voices on AI's civilizational implications. He lives in Carolina Shores, North Carolina.

The AGI Threshold is the first book in the AGI Coming Soon series.
