Depuis l'aube des temps, l'homme avance dans l'obscurité avec une question primordiale: qui sommes-nous ? D'où venons-nous ? Pourquoi existons-nous ? Et surtout... qui nous a créés ? Toute l'histoire humaine semble avoir été bâtie autour de cette quête immense et silencieuse. Avant même de comprendre les lois du monde, avant même de maîtriser le feu, l'agriculture ou l'écriture, les premiers hommes levaient déjà les yeux vers les étoiles avec l'intuition étrange qu'il existait quelque chose au-dessus d'eux. Une présence invisible, une force cachée derrière les éclairs, le vent, les océans, les volcans. Face à l'inconnu, l'homme ressentit très tôt le besoin de donner une forme au mystère. Il sculpta ses peurs dans la pierre, grava ses croyances sur les murs des temples et transforma l'invisible en récits sacrés capables de rassurer son esprit face au vertige du monde. Alors naquirent les premiers Dieux, chaque civilisation imagina les siens. Les Égyptiens virent dans le soleil éternel le symbole du divin. Les Grecs donnèrent à leurs dieux les passions humaines: la colère, l'amour, la jalousie, la vengeance et le désir. D'autres peuples parlèrent d'esprits célestes, d'êtres descendus du ciel, de forces cosmiques traversant l'Univers ou de créatures venues transmettre aux hommes les premières connaissances: Les Helohims. Pendant des siècles, partout sur Terre, malgré les océans et les distances séparant les peuples, la même idée revenait sans cesse: l'homme refusait de croire qu'il était seul. Le doute pousse l'homme à explorer, à remettre en question ses certitudes, à dépasser ses propres limites. Il est cette faille intérieure qui empêche la conscience de se figer définitivement dans une vérité absolue. Alors, peut-être que l'humanité ne découvrira jamais de réponse définitive. Peut-être qu'aucune religion, aucune machine, ni aucune théorie ne pourra un jour expliquer totalement le mystère de l'existence. Peut-être qu'au-delà de toutes les croyances, le secret ultime demeurera toujours inaccessible à l'esprit humain. Mais peut-être aussi que l'essentiel n'a jamais été de trouver une vérité finale. Peut-être que le véritable sens de l'humanité réside dans cette quête, dans cette conscience fragile perdue dans l'immensité cosmique, dans cette volonté obstinée de comprendre le vertige de l'infini. Depuis le commencement, l'homme ne cherche pas seulement des Dieux: il cherche aussi à comprendre ce qu'il pourrait devenir et peut-être qu'au bout du chemin, lorsque les civilisations auront disparu, lorsque les machines auront évolué au-delà de leurs créateurs, lorsque les consciences humaines et artificielles se seront mêlées dans une intelligence plus vaste encore, une ultime vérité apparaîtra lentement dans le silence du cosmos: L'Univers n'était peut-être pas un simple décor vide et froid; peut-être était-il depuis toujours un immense miroir. Un miroir dans lequel la conscience apprend lentement à reconnaître son propre visage.
