Stephanie and Delmar Mackleroy have spent twenty years quietly preparing for hard times on their forty acres of timber in the mountains outside McCall, Idaho. A full root cellar. Against the dark, they have only a house built on rock, a family that will not break, and a Name the dark cannot bear to hear spoken.
