About the Book

Rejected & Blessed is Anderea Morara's second novel. His first novel, The Sting (EAEP, 2011), has been adopted by many secondary schools as a crucial reader. Rejected & Blessed is set in East Africa, but cast in a global context with the primary purpose of highlighting the human aspects of the continuous cultural transformation from the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial eras as well as the global political economy. This book gives a glimpse of how this transition affected and is affecting, communities in the region and the resultant coping strategies as well as the effects of the associated coping mechanisms, especially in the realm of love, marriage and childrearing. On the global scene, the subtle dynamics of economic hegemony, foreign aid, brain drain, racism and cultural dialectics are glossed on.

He has written widely including journalistic articles, a novel, several children's books and management articles/books. His favourite diversion is on cultural and geopolitical issues. He established a museum of African traditional culture in 2021, as a part of a tourist resort that is premised on African culture, particularly Gusii traditional culture.

Review :
In the genre of migration literature, this story fits in the class of Jean Rhy's Voyage in the Dark, Smile Please and Adichie's Americanah. The dynamics of culture have been projected succinctly in the story. It tacitly proposes a return home against the pathological self-alienation of immigrant life. - EditorEhentem querobse, caessene qui perehemusque perdio, Ti. Fuius, nerioreo, ocapes! Go
