About the Author :
Niluka Domingo, an associate professor at Massey University's School of Built Environment in New Zealand, has a background encompassing both industry and academia. Her extensive professional journey spans the UK, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand. She has been at the forefront of active research for the past fifteen years, concentrating on key areas such as zero carbon initiatives, construction waste minimisation, circular economy practices, and sustainable construction methodologies. Beyond her research endeavours, she plays a crucial role in the academic community as a regular reviewer for numerous reputable journals. Her scholarly contributions extend to a wide array of publications in international refereed journals and conferences. Additionally, she has actively participated in editing books and contributing insightful chapters within her specialised field of sustainable construction. Sepani Senaratne, an associate professor, possesses more than 25 years of academic experience in quantity surveying (QS) and construction management (CM) disciplines, attached to reputed universities in Sri Lanka, UK and Australia. She is an active researcher with nearly 200 research publications, which includes publication of two scholarly books and six book chapters with reputed publishers. Sepani’s main research interests are in construction project management, sustainable construction and circular economy. Currently, she is co-coordinating CIB task group TG 124 on Net Zero Carbon to create global discussion and research on this timely topic. Also, together with the two other coordinators, she is currently guest editing a special issue in a Q1 journal on Net Zero Carbon and organising sessions at conferences such as in AUBEA 2022 and AUBEA 2023. Suzanne Wilkinson is a professor of construction management in the School for Built Environment, Massey University, and an associate dean (research), College of Sciences, Massey University. She has a Ph.D. in construction management and a B.Eng. (Hons) in civil engineering, both from Oxford Brookes University, and a graduate diploma in business studies (dispute resolution) from Massey University. Suzanne’s research focuses on resilience, disaster management, construction innovation and smart cities. She is interested in how cities, communities and organisations plan for disasters and manage hazard events and has a particular interest in how cities, communities and organisations rebuild and recover. Suzanne has been an advisor to organisations on resilience building and disaster recovery, most recently including Auckland Council, Government Agencies in New Zealand and Hunter Water in Australia. Suzanne has been Principal Investigator and Research Leader on many projects, including a recent 5 year, $10 million NZD project. Professor Srinath Perera is the chair professor of Built Environment and Construction Management and the founding director of Centre for Smart Modern Construction (c4SMC) at Western Sydney University, Australia. He joined WSU in June 2016 after serving as a professor of Construction Economics at Northumbria University, Newcastle, in the UK. He is a board member and the chair of the future leaders committee of CIB the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction. A professor Perera is the current president of the Australasian Universities Building Education Association (AUBEA). He is a fellow of the Royal Society of New South Wales (FRSN) and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Building. He is a chartered surveyor and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) and Australian Institute of Project Management.
