He also achieved the PhD degree in nonlinear systems and signal processing from the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, University of Sheffield, Sheffield, U.K. He is now a Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. Before joining in CityU, he was a Research Fellow with the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, University of Southampton, working on biomedical signal processing, and thereafter Assistant Professor and Associate Professor with Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His current research interests are generally related to Nonlinear Dynamics, Vibration, and Control, focusing on theory and methods for employing nonlinear benefits in engineering, including nonlinear frequency domain methods, nonlinear system identification or signal processing, vibration control, robust control, sensor technology, energy harvesting, nonlinear fault diagnosis or information processing, bio-inspired systems and methods, and robotics etc.Prof Jing currently serves as Senior Editor of Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing (MSSP), Associate Editors of Nonlinear Dynamics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and IEEE Transactions on Systems Man Cybernetics-Systems. He also served as Technical Editor of IEEE/ASME Trans. on Mechatronics during 2015-2020. He was the lead editor of a special issue on “Employing nonlinear benefits in engineering” published in the archive journal MSSP in 2019, lead editor of special issue on “Next generation of vibration control exploiting nonlinearities” published in MSSP in 2022, and serves as the general chair of ICANDVC2021-2024. Prof Jing is a Senior IEEE member, and actively participate different R&D and scholar activities serving industry government programmers and international conferences. Dixiong Yang is a professor in the Department of Engineering Mechanics at Dalian University of Technology. He is a provincial specially appointed expert. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in mechanics from Dalian University of Technology in 2004. His current research interests involve structural and multidisciplinary optimization, random vibration and structural reliability, seismic disaster reduction and vibration control of building and bridge structures, computational mechanics and turbulence simulation, as well as artificial intelligence and quantum computing. He has published 145 journal papers, including 86 papers in international journals. Prof. Yang achieved the second-class award of the National Science and Technology Progress Prize in 2017, and the first-class award of the Natural Science Prize for the Ministry of Education in 2013. He serves as a council member of the Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering, associate director of the Committee of Random Vibration, associate director of the Committee of History and Methodology of Mechanics of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, a member of the International Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, and the International Association for Computational Mechanics.  Ding Hu is a Research Fellow at Shanghai University and serves as the Associate Dean of the School of Mechanics and Engineering Science at Shanghai University. His research interests are generally related to nonlinear dynamics and control. He studied at Hefei University of Technology from 1998 to 2002, obtained his Master’s degree from Hefei University of Technology in 2005, and received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics at Shanghai University in 2008. From 2012 to 2013, he served as a visiting professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto, Canada; and from 2016 to 2017, he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University, USA. He was selected as a highly cited researcher in China by Elsevier (2020). He serves as an editorial board member of the prestigious journal Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (English Edition), Associate Editor of International Journal of Dynamics and Control, co-chair of the International Conference on Applied Nonlinear Dynamics, Vibration, and Control (ICANDVC 2021-2004). His research involves nonlinear vibration and control, with a particular focus on the nonlinear vibration characteristics of pipes under high pressure, high temperature, and high speed, as well as the design of nonlinear vibration isolation and suppression devices for the nonlinear boundary control of elastic structural vibrations. He has designed various nonlinear vibration reduction devices, continuous body bending vibration nonlinear control, and nonlinear vibration energy control strategies, and has been granted more than ten national invention patents.
