About the Book

This book is a collection of high-quality research papers presented at the Second International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, MIET 2024, hosted by Noakhali Science and Technology University, Noakhali, Bangladesh, during 8-9 November 2024. This book focuses on theoretical, practical, state-of-art applications, and research challenges in the field of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.  It is helpful for active researchers and practitioners in this field.



About the Author :

Md. Shahriare Satu received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees in Information Technology (IT) from Jahangirnagar University in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Noakhali, Bangladesh. In addition, he holds the position of Assistant Director of the Research Cell at the same institution. Before these roles, he worked as a Lecturer in the same department from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Gono Bishwabidyalay, Bangladesh, from 2016 to 2018. He has published nearly 50 peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, and book chapters. He also played key roles in several academic conferences, including serving as the organizing chair of MIET 2022 and joint secretary of BIM 2023. He contributed as a corresponding editor for the conference proceedings in the Springer LNICST series titled "Machine Intelligence and Emerging Technologies." Additionally, he served as the Technical Program Chair (TPC) for the International Conference on Embracing Industry 4.0 for Sustainable Business Growth (EISBG 2024). His research interests include Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Cognitive Architectures, Big Data Analytics, and Health Informatics.

Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin is currently working as a Professor at, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), CUET. Earlier he was the head of the department. He completed his B. Sc. Engineering in CSE from Khulna University and M. Sc. Engineering in CSE from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, in 2002 and 2008, respectively. He received his Doctor of Engineering Degree from Hiroshima University with the support of the scholarship of MEXT, Japan. As a part of his doctoral research, Dr. Arefin was with IBM Yamato Software Laboratory, Japan. His research includes privacy-preserving data publishing and mining, distributed and cloud computing, IoT and big data management, multilingual data management, semantic web, object-oriented system development, and IT for agriculture and environment. He serves as a TPC member in different international conferences and a reviewer of many international journals and conferences. Dr. Arefin is a senior member of IEEE, Member of ACM, Fellow of IEB and BCS. He has more than one hundred publications in referred journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Arefin has more than 110 referred publications in international journals, book series, and conference proceedings most of which are related to data privacy, recommendation systems, social network data analysis and IoT. Prof. Arefin has /earlier involved in many professional activities such as Chairman of the Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) Chittagong Branch, Vice-President (Academic) of the BCS National Committee and executive committee member of IEB Computer Engineering Division, Conference Coordinator of IEEE CS Bangladesh Chapter, Advisor, Bangladesh Robotic foundation. He was also a member of the pre-feasibility study team of CUET IT Business Incubator, the first campus-based IT Business Incubator in Bangladesh. Dr. Arefin is an academic council member of CUET and Bangladesh Army International University of Science and Technology (BAIUST). He is/was an examination committee member of different universities including CUET, RUET, DUET, CU, KU, PSTU, NSTU, and RSTU. He is also a selection committee member of CUET, BAIUST, PSTU, USTC, IIUC, and FU. Dr. Arefin visited Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bhutan, Singapore, South Korea, Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia, and China for different professional and social activities.

Pietro Lio' received the PhD degree in complex systems and nonlinear dynamics from the School of Informatics, Dept. of Engineering, University of Firenze, Italy and the PhD degree in theoretical genetics from the University of Pavia, Italy. He is currently a professor of computational biology with the Department of Computer Science and Technology, University of Cambridge and a member of the Artificial Intelligence Group. He is also a member of the Cambridge Centre for AI in medicine. His research interests include systems biology, multi omics, and clinical data integration methodology, developing artificial intelligence and computational biology models to detect biomarkers for diseases complexity and address personalised, and precision medicine.

Dr. M Shamim Kaiser is currently working as a Professor at the Institute of Information Technology of Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka-1342, Bangladesh. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Applied Physics Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2002 and 2004 respectively, and the Ph. D. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, in 2010. His current research interests include Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Wireless Network & Signal Processing, Cognitive Radio Networks, Big data and Cyber Security, and Renewable Energy. He has authored more than 100 papers in different peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Access Journal, Guest Editor of the Brain Informatics Journal, and Cognitive Computation Journal. Dr. Kaiser is a Life Member of Bangladesh Electronic Society; Bangladesh Physical Society. He is also a senior member of IEEE, USA, and IEICE, Japan, and an active volunteer of the IEEE Bangladesh Section. He is the founding Chapter Chair of the IEEE Bangladesh Section Computer Society Chapter. Dr Kaiser organized various international conferences such as ICEEICT 2015-2018, IEEE HTC 2017, IEEE ICREST 2018, BI2020, etc.
