About the Author :
Fasika A.Woreta, M.D.,MPH, is the Eugene de Juan, M.D. Professor of Ophthalmic Education and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Woreta received her M.D. degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and her M.P.H. degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Following an internship in internal medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, she completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. She then completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Woreta returned to Wilmer Eye Institute to join the faculty as Assistant Chief of Service and Assistant Director of the Eye Trauma Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2013 and is currently the Director of the Eye Trauma Center and Residency Program Director. She is the immediate past president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma. Her clinical and research interests include complex cataract and corneal surgeries, ocular trauma, medical education, and quality improvement in healthcare delivery. She has published more than 140 peer reviewed publications and chapters in leading ophthalmology journals. Dr. Rohan Bir Singh, M.D., is a senior fellow at the Laboratory of Ocular Immunology, Transplantation and Regeneration at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA (USA). He graduated from the Government Medical College & Hospital, Panjab University, Chandigarh (India). His research interests include immunopathogenesis of dry eye disease, immunology of corneal graft rejection, epidemiology of ocular disorders in the United States and ocular graft-versus-host disease. He is a PhD candidate at the Leiden University Medical Center (The Netherlands) with concentration in corneal immunology. Dr. Singh is also a visiting senior lecturer in the Division of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Adelaide Medical School, University of Adelaide (Australia) and an honorary research associate at Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, University College London (United Kingdom). He has published more than 100 peer reviewed publications and chapters in leading ophthalmology and vision science journals.
