About the Author :
Shailendra Kumar is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai. He received a B.Tech. Degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, India, in 2010, and the M.Tech. Degree in power electronics, electrical machine, and drives (PEEMD) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India, in 2015. He completed his Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India in May 2019. He has worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Petroleum Institute of Research Centre Khalifa University from May 2019 to November 2019. He has also worked as an Assistant Professor at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal from June 2020 to May 2023. His research interests include charging stations for EVs, power quality, grid integration of renewable energy resources, custom power devices, and microgrids. Dr. Kumar was the recipient of the prestigious POSOCO power system award (in Master as well as Doctoral categories) in 2016 and 2019. He is also a recipient of Prof. Som Nath Mahendra's Student Travel Awards for the IEEE PEDES 2018 conference and the IEEE UPCON Best Paper Award in 2016 and 2018. Dr. Kumar is a senior member of IEEE and a member of INAE Societies. Jitendra Kumar is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, India. He received his B.Tech. from IMS Engineering College, Ghaziabad, India, in 2009, his M.Tech from the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, Kurukshetra, in 2011, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee, India, in 2017. He has over 5 years of teaching experience and taught subjects like Power systems, Advanced Power System, Control System, Control and instrumentation, Power System Operation and Control, Signal and system, Power System Protection, Circuit and Network Theory. He has many papers in reputed journals. His major areas of research interests include power system protection and restructuring, Protection algorithms design in smart grid and microgrid environments, and Design of protection algorithms in FACTS environment. The research area also includes protection strategies during power swings. Narayana Prasad Padhy (Senior Member, IEEE) received a Ph.D. degree in power systems engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India, in 1997. He is an Institute Chair Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee, India. He is heading many national and international projects, such as DSIDES, ID-EDGe, and HEAPD. He is also part of other international projects, namely Indo-US UI-ASSIST and Indo-UK ZED-I. His research interests include power system analysis, optimization, demand-side management, and smart grids. Dr. Padhy is also a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineers, Institution of Engineering and Technology, and Institution of Engineers India. Sukumar Kamalasadan (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Tech. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Calicut, Malappuram, India, in 1991, the M.Eng. degree in electrical power systems management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1999, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from The University of Toledo, Toledo, OH, USA, in 2004. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Charlotte, NC, USA. His research interests include intelligent and autonomous control, power systems dynamics, stability and control, smart grid, microgrid, and real-time optimization and control of the power system. Dr. Kamalasadan was the recipient ofseveral awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and IEEE Best Paper Award. Premalata Jena is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. She received her B.Tech. degree in electrical engineering from the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, India, in 2001, the M.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India, in 2006, and the PhD degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India, in 2011. She has seven years of teaching experience. She is an IEEE member and INAE, Young Associate. She received many awards such as the Women Excellence Award and Early Carrier Research Award, SERB, DST, Gov. of India, New Delhi, INAE Young Engineer Award, POSOCO Power System Award, in 2013. She has published many papers in different reputed journals and conferences. Her fields of interest are Smart Grid, Smart grid technology, and protection, Microgrid, Microgrid Protection, Signal processing application to power system relaying, Power system Protection, Protection Issues with FACTS Devices, Protection Scheme Development for a line with FACTS devices, Disturbance localization, Signal processing application for disturbance localization.
