About the Author :

Tarek Rana is an Associate Professor of Management Accounting and Analytics at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. He earned a PhD in Management Accounting at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Australia. He has considerable professional and industry experience in the areas of business services, taxation, auditing, and financial planning as well as consulting services including performance measurement and risk management. He has formed many industry partnerships and undertaken practice focused research projects to deliver long-term social and organizational impact. His current research focuses on the intersection of accounting and data analytics including the implications of data analytics on management control systems, performance measurement, risk management, and sustainability where he draws on textual analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence theories and practices. His research papers appeared in international and interdisciplinary scholarly journals suchas The British Accounting Review, Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal, Financial Accountability & Management, Intelligent Systems in Accounting, Finance & Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Public Money & Management, Journal of Accounting & Organisational Change, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Journal of Intellectual Capital.


Mohammad Azim is a highly esteemed professional with a distinguished career spanning over 23 years in academia. He has held positions at prestigious institutions such as the Australian National University, University of Canberra, University of South Australia, University of Adelaide, Swinburne University of Technology, CQ University, and currently serves as a faculty member at James Cook University. Moreover, he has also contributed his expertise to renowned international universities, including the University of Dhaka, North South University, National University of Vietnam, and Hong Kong Baptist University.


Dr. Azim's extensive qualifications include being a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ), Certified Public Accountant (CPA, Australia), and a qualified Cost and Management Accountant (CMA, Australia). Through active engagement with prominent accounting bodies, he has further fortified his expertise in the field. Driven by his passion for research, he has made significant contributions, boasting an impressive portfolio of over 50 published studies. Many of his research works have been featured in top-tier international journals, attesting to their exceptional quality and relevance.


Gillian Vesty is Deputy Dean, Learning & Teaching at the College of Business and Law at RMIT University, Australia.


Kerry Russo is the Associate Dean, Learning & Teaching at James Cook University, College of Business, Law and Governance. Prior to taking up the position of Associate Dean, Kerry was a teacher, TAFE campus manager and educational designer. Kerry developed and implemented the online education design of the Bachelor of Business and built staff capacity in teaching online. Her role as Associate Dean includes leading the development of a learning and teaching culture committed to excellence, innovation and a positive student experience. Kerry works with academics in developing positive student learning experiences and student engagement approaches. Kerry is researching the digital divide and digital fluency. She found the divide is predicated on differing digital skills not access to digital devices. Kerry identified, resourcing schools with laptops without a digital curriculum, did not increase digital fluency. Kerry's research established appropriately resourcing school advances digital fluency. An experienced educator, Kerry's social justice values demonstrates a commitment to equality in quality education.
