Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake (Retd) is a maritime affairs expert drawing from 36 years of operational experience in the Sri Lanka Navy, culminating as Chief of Staff. Since retiring, he has focused on analyzing maritime security, informed by firsthand knowledge of naval strategy and regional dynamics. His unique perspective stems from residing in an Indian Ocean Island nation, uniquely positioned amidst geopolitical power rivalries. Holding a Master's Degree in Maritime Policy and a MSc in Military Science and Security Studies, he combines practical insight with academic rigor. He has attended numerous international seminars. Rear Admiral Rathnayake's analysis offers a neutral, yet deeply informed, perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the Indian Ocean region. His work provides critical insights into maritime operations, security, and international relations from a vantage point seldom heard.
