About the Book

This book explores the physiology and neurophysiology of the endocrine system, emphasizing the intricate brain-endocrine crosstalk, from pathophysiology to clinical applications. The dynamic interplay between neural and endocrine system regulates nearly every function of human body, from metabolism and growth to circadian rhythm. It bridges the gap between physiology, neurology, endocrinology and clinical practice thus empowering the readers to explore innovative therapeutic strategies and deepen their expertise in the rapidly evolving field of neuroendocrinology.

The book is divided into three sections – the first section covers the endocrine physiology, the second section discusses the neurophysiology of the endocrine system, and the final section includes the crosstalk of the brain and endocrine system. Chapters focus on the key topics, such as the physiology of the endocrine system, endocrine control of metabolism and diagnostic approaches to endocrine disorders, neural regulation of endocrine system, neuroendocrine response to stress, hormonal regulation of circadian rhythm, crosstalk of neuroendocrine system, clinical implications and recent research trends.

This volume of the book series ‘Physiology in Clinical Neurosciences – Brain and Spinal Cord Crosstalks’ serves as a valuable resource for clinicians, researchers, and postgraduate and super-speciality students in neurology, neuroscience, endocrinology, physiology and biomedical sciences. It is also helpful for allied health professionals, as well as researchers working in the domain of neuroendocrinology.
