About the Book

Celesse, the healer cat, is the beloved guardian of her farmhouse and the animals nearby. Though she spends most days basking in cozy warmth as the mistress's favorite cat, one snowy night brings a desperate knock at the door: a mother hare begs for help-her baby is burning with fever deep in the backwoods.

Reluctantly, Celesse sets off into a whirling snowstorm and biting cold. In the dark forest, danger waits... and Celesse must summon her strength and courage for the first time in a long while.

A tender tale about kindness, bravery, and the quiet magic of helping others.

"The Healer Cat is a truly lovely and unique children's book by Tuula Pere that is sure to appeal to lovers of classic anthropomorphic animal stories like Charlotte's Web, Peter Rabbit, and Stuart Little."

"Like many of Pere's children's stories, it can get a little bit dark, grim, and perilous at times, but it always circles back to light, hope, and positivity."

- Outstanding Creator Awards

"A thought-provoking story that teaches kindness, helping one another, and doing good deeds... and encourages children to stand up to their fears." "The antique-style illustrations by artist Klaudia Bezak are a unique and beautiful sight... sure to remind parents of their childhood books."

- Literary Titan

"The narrative conveys a wholesome message that highlights the importance of values such as sacrifice and compassion."

- Carmen Tenorio for Readers' Favorite

Review :

"The Healer Cat is a truly lovely and unique children's book by Tuula Pere that is sure to appeal to lovers of classic anthropomorphic animal stories like Charlotte's Web, Peter Rabbit, and Stuart Little. Like many of Pere's children's stories, it can get a little bit dark, grim, and perilous at times, but it always circles back to light, hope, and positivity."

"Anyone who has owned and fallen in love with a household pet knows that they have a certain magic about them. Celesse has that affect on her owners... She is essentially viewed as their leader and, in a sense, their town shaman."

"This book is beautifully illustrated by Klaudia Bezak, who details every whisker on Celesse's fluffy face and every hair on her fluffy orange fur. There's a real coziness and warmth to the illustrations... a distinct orange glow throughout the book that both reflects the aura of Celesse herself and the aura of a fire, the sun, or another source of warmth and light."

"This is a beautiful and powerful story about compassion, friendship, and helping others. There are so many great things about this book!" - Score: 95/100

- Outstanding Creator Awards

There is also the message about standing up to your fears and facing the things that scare you the most.
