The Precious Few: (Holocaust Books for Young Adults)

The Precious Few is based on a thousand true stories and documents the love and dedication of a young brother and sister, Polish Jews, during the tumultuous start of World War II. We follow them as they struggle to stay alive, and retaliate against their oppressors. Many of the stories and events portrayed in the book will be startlingly new, even to Word War II buffs. The book reveals a different side of the stereotypical view of the Polish people and the Nazis occupiers, swiftly moving through the Polish history of World War II and to the Israeli War of Independence and beyond. The subplots and the chance meetings and interactions of the central characters create a flow of life rich in spirit and driven by determination. Remnants of families lost to concentration camp horrors spawn a new era of a Jewish culture—a mindset to fight back against the oppression and victimization of any people.

About the Author :
David Twain spent many years in the pet supply business, from distributor and retailer to importer-which took him to China, England, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Nepal. It was on these lengthy flights that David passed his time by writing poetry and short stories. He has written more than 350 poems and short stories, including magazine articles, three autobiographies, and two musical CDs with twenty original songs. An ardent student of Jewish history, he became interested in the lives of Holocaust survivors during his extensive research, which culminated in his writing The Precious Few. Art Twain, younger brother of David, has written successfully for a living for 58 years. Art has written and produced over 3,000 radio and tv commercials, myriad jingles and music scores, and countless print materials. His awards include Clios, Emmy, AAF, One Show, and more. He helped the Gap go from one store to 500 stores with his marketing and advertising. Art wrote Falling into the Gap, the 724-page biography of Don Fisher, founder of the Gap stores. He organized, edited, and added his writing skills to The Precious Few.
