This Encycolpaedic dictionary in eleven volumes has been essentially a compilation and editing of terms and expressions to provide students at all levels with a handy and reliable source for definitions of economic terms along with their interpretations, statements of economic laws, theories and principles, and descriptions of economic and financial institutions. This dictionary has been encyclopedic in its contents and style of representation which is evident from the comprehensiveness of its coverage and contextual of relevance of explanations with illustrations and mathematical expressions wherever necessary. Throughout the process of compilation and editing the volumes our sincere efforts was to make the dictionary serve as a ready reference for undergraduate and post graduate economic students and for those appearing for competitive examinations, research scholars, teachers, and authors but also for economic administrators, planners, journalists, business managers, politicians and the general reader with a little bit of interest in economics but possessing economic consciousness. Every effort has been carefully made to write the entries in a clear and lucid style to provide both straight forward definitions and invaluable background information. At some appropriate places, line diagrams have been included whenever the meaning of a word can be best understood by means of a diagram. The presentation throughout has been aimed at sustaining the interest of readers while enriching their vocabulary and comprehension of technical terms and expressions.

About the Author :
Dr. G.C. Pande (b. 1938), Department of Economics, Kumaun University, is popularly known as an applied economist in the spheres of Economic-Growth, Planning, Development, International Economics and Economics of Agriculture. More than five dozen research papers published in academically specialised journals to his credit relate to Development Economics. He obtained Ph.D. degree from University of Lucknow in 1968 in Regional Economic Planning and worked for U.P. and Rajasthan Education Service before joining Kumaun University. He has been associated with designing and conducting a large number of eminent field studies on behalf of Demographic Research Centre, Luck-now and Directorate of Economics and Industrial Surveys, Rajasthan. More than a dozen students have worked under his guidance for research. The recent contributions of Dr. Pande include 'Con-current Evaluation (six Volumes, 1986), 'Studies in Research Methodology in Economics' (1980), 'Economy of Uttarakhand1 (1975) and 'Economic Development and Planning' (in Two Volumes, (1989). Prof.D.M. Mithani is currently Head of Economics Department at the Maharashtra College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Bombay. He has a long teaching and writing experience of exceeding 25 years. Professor Mithani is also in the visiting faculty of the Department of Commerce, University of Bombay. He is the elected member of the Board of Studies in Economics, University of Bombay. He is also the Executive Member of the Indian Economic Association. Apart from writing research articles and conference papers, he has contributed more than 35 books in Economics.
