About the Book

The present book in the user-friendly format is a first publication on "Veterinary Physiotherapy" for the benefits of students and beginners, comprising authentic information on historical aspects to modality, indications, contraindications and rehabilitation protocol for clinical patients. This book is a compilation of scholarly and practical knowledge in the field of physiotherapy for ready reference of the users. The chapters selected in this book cater the needs of veterinary students, internists, academicians, clinicians and practising veterinarians. Mechanisms of action of different modalities are described in brief for better understanding of the effects. The content of this book has been kept keeping in view the revised curriculum of the Veterinary Council of India for undergraduate students to fulfil the academic interest related to course work of VSR-5 11: Veterinary Orthopaedics and Lameness (1+1) and post-graduate study course under the heading Physiotherapy. The text is dealt with a simple, systematic classified and practical manner, avoiding complicated details, so as to make it useful. More than 25 appropriate illustrations pertain mostly to various physiotherapeutic modalities used in different disorders have been included to complement the text. Importance has been laid to include effective learning features such as exercises: review questions, contains more than fifty solved objective/subjective types questions, help reinforce key information for various entrance tests viz: Pre-P.G, ICAR-JRF, ICAR-SRF, NET, ARS, Pre-IAS, Union PSC, State PSC, State civil services examination and interviews. Appendices and available glossary on physiotherapy related terms have been also incorporated for the benefit of ready and quick reference. Key comprehensive yet concise references have been given to lead the users for further readings. This book apart from meeting the professional needs of undergraduate/postgraduate students, teachers, scientists, clinicians of veterinary universities/colleges, will also serve as a reference book for field veterinarians.

About the Author :
Dr. M.M. Ansari is currently working as Associate Professor-cum-Senior Scientist and imparting teaching, research, extension & clinical activities at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir, a premier Agricultural University of Jammu and Kashmir, India. He completed his PhD in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology at Indian Veterinary Research Institute, (Deemed University), Izatnagar, India is one of the premier national institutions in veterinary and animal sciences in the world. He has also qualified and received certificates of NET and ICAR-SRF (PGS) in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology from ASRB, ICAR, New Delhi and NAARM, Hyderabad respectively. He has over 13 years of experience of teaching, research, extension education and administration. During this period he has served College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at India's foremost Agricultural University Gobind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. He has extended his services as specialist/consultant to the zoological park; Pet clinic, Patna and World Bank funded Diversified Agricultural Support Project, Uttarakhand. Dr. Ansari has been honoured with number of awards and recognitions for his contributions to profession. Dr. Ansari was Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator and Associated in a number of projects, namely Eye affections, Congenital defects, Foot disorders in animals etc. He has guided 13 BVSc & AH, 1 MVSc and has been a member of Advisory committee for MVSc and PhD students in different disciplines. He is serving his duties as Reviewer Board in International Journal of Agriculture and Biosciences, Sub-Editor in the Indian Cow - The Scientific and Economic Journal, Advisory Board Member of Global Journal of Animal Scientific Research, Associate Editor of International Journal of Veterinary Science and Editor-in-Chief of Journals viz: Scholar`s Advances in Animal & Veterinary Research, International Journal of Osteoporosis & Metabolic Disorders etc. He is Member of several committees at University & Government levels and Life Member of many Professional Societies. To his credit he has published more than 100 publications in various national and international journals of repute, authored and edited 3 books, edited 3 compendia, 1 booklet, 9 chapters in books, presented more than 45 paper abstracts in annual symposia/conferences and has delivered many Radio and TV talks in addition to being a resource person in training programmes at such a young age is itself a proof of his caliber. He has also attended and delivered lectures in workshops, seminars, summer school, short courses and faculty trainings.
