About the Book

The man from the clouds is an adventurous novel that blends suspense, mystery, and the uncertainty of survival. The story begins with an unexpected incident involving an observation balloon that rises uncontrollably into a mist covered sky, drawing its crew into a frightening and unfamiliar situation. This dramatic opening sets the stage for themes of fate, courage, and the fragile boundary between safety and danger. As the characters face the unknown, the narrative explores human resilience under pressure and the strange twists that chance can bring. The atmosphere is filled with tension and wonder, suggesting that adventure often emerges from sudden disaster. The novel reflects on survival not only as a physical struggle but also as an emotional test of determination and hope. With its blend of wartime backdrop and imaginative intrigue, the book offers a gripping portrait of how ordinary lives can be transformed by extraordinary events high above the earth.

About the Author :
Joseph Storer Clouston was a Scottish writer and historian. Cloustons are descended from Havard Gunnason, Chief Counsellor to Haakon, Earl of Orkney, and later became landed gentry, deriving their name from their estate, Clouston. After attending Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh and Magdalen College in Oxford, he was called to the bar at the Inner Temple in London in 1895, but he never practised law. Soon after starting his writing career, he released one of his most popular novels, The Lunatic at Large. He was also a historian, the author of a comprehensive history of Orkney, the founder and second president of the Orkney Antiquarian Society, and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. In the late 1930s, his film The Spy in Black became a blockbuster. His First Offence was also filmed in France under the title Drole de drama. Beastmark the Spy, a 1941 thriller, was his final novel. He died at his residence, Smoogro House, in Orphir, Orkney. After his father's cousin (William Clouston, 23rd of Clouston) died, Clouston took over as head of the family.
