Some divisions of Psychology are applied fields, while others are more experimental in nature. The various applied fields include clinical, counselling, industrial, engineering, or Personnel, consumer and environmental. The most important of these specialities, clinical psychology, is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders' The broad field known as experimental psychology includes specialisations in child educational, social, developmental, psychological, and comparative psychology. Of these, child psychology applies psychologicalih.ory and research methods to children, educational Psychology is concerned with learning processes and problems associated with the teaching of students; social psychology is concerned with group dynamics and other aspects of human behaviour in its social and cultural setting, and comparative Psychology deals with- behaviour as it differs from one species of animal to another. The issues studied by psychologists cover a wide spectrum, comprising learning, cognition, intelligence, motivation, emotion, perception, Personality, mental disorders, and the study of the extent to which individual differences are inherited or are shaped environmentally, known as behaviour genetics. The present book in two volumes, consists of twenty-four chapters covering all major aspects of experimental psychology.

About the Author :
Dr. K. A. Jalihal, (born on 3rd April 1927), B.Sc. (Agri.), M.Sc (USA), Ph.D., S/o. Anantarao Jalihal comes from a Freedom Fighters family in Gadag of Gadag district, Karnataka. He started his service as lecturer in agronomy, Agricultural College, Dharwad in 1947 and has subsequently worked as (a) Superintendent of Agricultural School, (b) Assistant Professor of Agronomy in Pune Agricultural College, (c) Head of the Tobacco Research Station at Nippani, Belgaum district, (d) Professor of Agronomy and Extension in the Bangalore Agricultural College. For a period of 12 years he worked as Director of Extension and he was responsible for adoption of many new innovations in Agriculture by farmers in Karnataka. He was also in charge of Dean's post in the U.A.S. Bangalore before bifurcation in 1987. He has published more than 100 research papers and guided eight Ph.D. and 16 M.Sc. students in Agricultural Extension. Dr. M. Shivamurthy (born on 10th June 1957) is the son of Sri H. B. Murudaiah and Smt Sarvamangala belongs to the farming family situated in a remote village in Tumkur district, Karnataka. He did his B.Sc. (Horticulture), M.Sc. (Agri.) and Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension from University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. He started his career as grassroots level extension worker in the University of Agricultural Sciences, as Extension Guide for 9 years from 1982 to 1991. He has published 40 research articles, 20 popular articles and 3 books for the benefit of farming community. His book Kushki Thotagarike (Dryland Horticulture) published in 1995 received the State level Best Book Award. He has visited Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt to present his research paper. He has guided five M.Sc. students.
