About the Book

This volume brings together a selection of papers on translation. The papers illustrate translation paradigms to reach a critical revision of existing paradigms and to develop new ones in approaching the translated text. The translation process is also examined focusing on skills, knowledge and strategies that make up translation competence, translation and ideology which examines the "invisible" influence of ideologies on the translator, and the role of translators in transmitting ideology, and translation receivers, envisaging translators as communicators caught between the opposing trends of localization and globalization.

Review :
What makes Investigating Translation stand out from other collective volumes is the author's shared concern with providing rigour and objectivity to their research. Irrespective of the specific topic they discuss, the contributors' work on corpora of texts, questionnaires, etc., allows them to present their conclusions in a confident manner and makes their research more readily useful to other scholars in the field. This common feature of the contributions proves that a truly 'scientific' era is drawing near for the discipline, and that this dream and ambition of both theorists and practitioners is likely to come true with the help of the refined tolls of investigation of the 21st century.
