In this book, the contributors offer an account of the legacy of qāḍī Abū Bakr Ibn al-ʿArabī (d. 543/1148), a pivotal figure in the transmission of Islamic knowledge in al-Andalus. This book sheds light on his role as al-Ghazālī's (d. 505/1111) most illustrious disciple and a key link in the scholarly tradition that shaped Islamic teaching for centuries. About the Author :
Ilyass Amharar, Ph. D. (2021), Université Aix-Marseille, «agrégé d’arabe» and postdoctoral researcher at the Institut de Recherches sur les Mondes Arabe et Musulman (IREMAM). He has written monographs, translations and many articles on the intellectual history of the Maghrib (with a focus on Ashʿarism, Mālikism and Sufism), including Langage et théologie chez Abū Bakr Ibn al-ʿArabī (543/1148) (Gorgias Press, 2023). Ilyass Amharar, Ph. D. (2021), Université Aix-Marseille, est agrégé d'arabe et chercheur postdoctoral à l'Institut de Recherches sur les Mondes Arabe et Musulman (IREMAM). Il a écrit plusieurs monographies, traductions et articles sur l'histoire intellectuelle du Maghreb, notamment Langage et théologie chez Abū Bakr Ibn al-ʿArabī (543/1148) (Gorgias Press, 2023).
