About the Book

Edouard Carmignac, an asset manager, has been collecting contemporary art for more than 25 years. Housed in the management company's premises on Place Vendome in Paris and in its international subsidiaries, the Carmignac collection currently boasts nearly 200 paintings, photographs and sculptures from the 20th and 21st centuries. This book is realised on the occasion of the opening of the Foundation on the island of Porquerolles, Provence, realised by architect Marc Barani and by landscape architect Louis Beneche. The volume presents for the first time the Carmignac collection, which includes the work of strong personalities who, beyond their individual aesthetic vision, share a perspective on art and the world that is different, and an intuition and audacity that borders on provocation. Edouard Carmignac first turned his attention to artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, with their energy and irreverence, but also Keith Haring, Francesco Clemente and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The Collection also includes the work by Asian artists Dinh Q. Le, Lean Seckon and Li Tian-Bing, the Iranian artist Shirin Neshat or the Lebanese artist Ayman Baalbaki.
