En Reflexiones emancipatorias, hemos compilado las reflexiones de José Carlos Mariátegui sobre las clases sociales de Latinoamérica en los albores del siglo XX. Mariátegui parece poseido por la idea de que se avecina un gran cambio. Resulta difícil imaginar cómo la utopía socialista vigente en la época conseguiría una transmutación radical de los valores establecidos. Plantea una visión particular del pensamiento marxista, una especial articulación de los procesos nacionales e internacionales de su época. Queda, sin embargo, la agudeza intelectual de estos textos que pretenden diseccionar con voluntad premonitoria los factores de la injusticia social. Mariátegui fue ante todo un pensador político, sus reflexiones sobre la política de las clases populares y subalternas refieren en un sentido amplio a la necesidad de dotar al proletariado y al campesinado peruano de las herramientas necesarias para la batalla política. Luchaba por la necesidad de reconstruir una nueva peruanidad, ya que la primera se había hecho desde el indígena antes de la Conquista; luego, era una identidad que se había edificado desde la Colonia, con la marginación del indígena. Esta nueva peruanidad a partir del indígena, tendría que ser un ejemplo para construir la identidad de nuestra América. Mariátegui afirma que no quiere un Perú solamente inca o solamente colonial, sino un Perú integral. Son este tipo de reivindicaciones las que nos han servido de referencia para hacer esta compilación de Reflexiones emancipatorias.

About the Author :
Gaspar de Carvajal (Trujillo, c. 1500-Lima, Peru, 1584). Espana. Tras ingresar en la orden dominica, marcho a Peru en 1523, dedicandose a la conversion de los indigenas. En 1540 fue capellan en la expedicion de Gonzalo Pizaro, en busca del Pais de la Canela al este de Quito. La expedicion a atraveso los Andes y se interno en la selva amazonica. Pizarro ordeno a su segundo al mando que con cincuenta hombres (entre ellos Gaspar de Carvajal) descendiese el rio Napo en busca de provisiones. Alcanzaron la confluencia del Napo y el Trinidad, pero no encontraron provisiones. Sin poder volver atras por la fuerza de la corriente, decidieron seguir rio abajo, hasta llegar a la desembocadura del Amazonas. Los datos de la expedicion registrados por fray Gaspar de Carvajal proporcionan informacion de gran interes etnologico sobre la disposicion y tamano de los poblados, ocupacion continua a lo largo de las barrancas del rio, caminos amplios que comunican el rio Amazonas con la tierra firme, tacticas de guerra, rituales, costumbres y utensilios. A su regreso al Peru, Carvajal fue elegido subprior del convento de San Rosario en Lima. En este puesto, fue elegido para arbitrar entre el virrey, y los auditores de la Real Audiencia en 1554. Despues de la pacificacion del Peru, fue enviado por sus superiores como misionero a Tucuman, siendo nombrado protector de los indios. Carvajal permanecio anos en este territorio, y se dice que convirtio a la mayor parte de los indigenas de la zona. En 1553 fue instituido como prior del convento de Huamanga y provincial de Tucuman. Hay constancia de una carta de Carvajal al rey informandole de los abusos que sufrian los indios en las minas del Peru y pidiendole interviniese en favor de estos.
