About the Book

British sergeant Lester Ferris, a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, is a decent man on the verge of retirement. He is posted to Mancreu, a remote former British colony trapped in a legal and environmental limbo, built on toxic waste and facing imminent destruction. Mancreu is also a perfect haven for shady multinational business: espionage, arms trafficking, money laundering, drugs, and illegal detention centers. There, Lester befriends a streetwise boy obsessed with comic books, who will soon need a new home. When violence erupts, Lester is forced to rediscover the action hero he once was and become the kind of protector both the island and the boy desperately need. Tigerman is a fast-paced, deeply moving, and unexpectedly funny novel about fatherhood, friendship, and secret identities.
