About the Author :
John Bunyan nació en Elstow, Bedfordshire, Inglaterra, en 1628. Aprendió a leer y escribir en la escuela del pueblo y fue preparado para seguir el oficio de su padre como brasero cuando estalló la Guerra Civil inglesa en 1644 y fue reclutado en el ejército parlamentario. Su servicio militar lo puso en contacto con las tropas puritanas de Oliver Cromwell. A partir de 1648, Bunyan sufrió una crisis de fe religiosa que duró varios años. Se dirigió a la Iglesia No Conformista en Bedford para sostenerlo durante este período. Sus primeros escritos fueron ataques contra los cuáqueros.
