El Dr. Juan Carlos Dur� es especialista en Reumatolog�a y Medicina Interna y ha desarrollado su actividad cl�nica en el Servicio de Reumatolog�a del IMAS del Hospital del Mar de Barcelona y en el Servicio de Reumatolog�a del IMAS del Hospital de la Esperanza. Actualmente, su actividad asistencial, docente e investigadora se desarrolla en el Institut Catal� de la Salut y a nivel de medicina privada. Es autor de un libro, una monograf�a, 55 cap�tulos de libros, entre ellos en las cuatro �ltimas ediciones del prestigioso Farreras-Rozman y es coautor de m�s de 150 publicaciones en revistas de prestigio como The Lancet, Rheumatology, American Journal of Psychiatry, Arthritis & Rheumatism. La obra se presenta como una �til herramienta de consulta y aprendizaje para m�dicos de Atenci�n Primaria y m�dicos de todas las especialidades relacionados con el aparato locomotor, fundamentalmente los reumat�logos obligados continuamente a actualizarse. Asimismo, es de utilidad para el estudiante ya que le ayuda a comprender las bases de la reumatolog�a cl�nica debido a que la obra se presenta con una metodolog�a muy clara que permite un perfecto razonamiento diagn�stico y, por otro, un valioso instrumento para el cl�nico que por primera vez entra en contacto con la especialidad. Este libro trata fundamentalmente de revalorizar la cl�nica, es decir, la anamnesis y la exploraci�n f�sica, ofreciendo un conocimiento estructurado de las enfermedades reum�ticas, haciendo referencia a la etiopatogenia, la cl�nica, el diagn�stico, el pron�stico y el tratamiento. El contenido del libro se estructura en 14 secciones con un total de 47 cap�tulos en donde se han incluido numerosas tablas y esquemas. Cabe destacar tambi�n la presencia de 200 dibujos (la gran mayor�a pertenecientes al cap�tulo 6, ' Exploraci�n') realizados por el propio autor en donde de forma clara y expl�cita se presentan de manera aparentemente f�cil los conceptos m�s complejos de la disciplina. Ya que la mayor�a de las maniobras empleadas en Reumatolog�a se conocen con el nombre del cl�nico que las describi� por vez primera, y para no sobrecargar el texto con dichas referencias, se han a�adido notas explicativas a pie de p�gina. Destacar, tambi�n, que al final de cada cap�tulo se listan los art�culos m�s recomendables, que m�s bibliograf�a contienen y a partir de los cuales el lector �vido de conocimientos podr� profundizar y extender m�s su bagaje en esta disciplina. Otro aspecto a destacar es la inclusi�n de un peque�o texto introductorio al inicio de cada Secci�n, para dar una visi�n de conjunto de los temas que se tratar�n en ella y el enfoque y objetivos que se quieren alcanzar.
