About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION The Complete Captain Alatriste brings together for the first time in a single volume the seven novels that make up the acclaimed series The Adventures of Captain Alatriste. "He was not the most honest man nor the most pious, but he was a brave man..." With this already legendary phrase, Arturo Pérez-Reverte began, twenty years ago, the first of the novels starring Captain Alatriste, a veteran soldier of the tercios of Flanders who lives as a swordsman in seventeenth-century Madrid. His adventures constitute one of the great milestones in recent Spanish-language publishing history: the series, made up of seven novels, has sold millions of books around the world, has inspired comics, films, plays, television series and role playing games, and with it thousands of young people have grown up as readers. The Complete Captain Alatriste brings together for the first time in a single volume the seven novels that make up the series: Captain Alatriste, Purity of Blood, The Sun Over Breda, The King's Gold, The Cavalier in the Yellow Doublet, Pirates of the Levant and The Bridge of the Assassins. It also includes a prologue by the author on the trajectory of the character, an introduction by Spanish professor Alberto Montaner, and the biography of Captain Alatriste. With this special edition, signed by the author, Alfaguara pays tribute to the one who is, without a doubt, the great character of contemporary Spanish literature. Review: "A beautiful book, with a very timely introduction full of bibliography that makes us want more and helps us to better understand this series." José Belmonte, Ababol
