About the Author :
Niranjan Singh (Ph.D.) is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fruit Science, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Ayodhya (UP), India. Born on 15 July 1988 in Gyanagarh, a small village in Saharanpur, UP, he obtained Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from CCS University, Meerut, UP in 2009, M.Sc. (Ag) in Horticulture from CSA University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, UP in 2012 and doctorate in Fruit Science from Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, HP in 2017. He worked as SRF and RA under World Bank funded Project of Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Development Project operational in the Department of Fruit Science, Dr. YSPUHF (HP) from 2018 to 2022 and as a Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Moradabad-II, UP under the University of SVP University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, UP in 2022. He has qualified ICAR-JRF, SRF, and NET. A receipient of Young Scientist Award given by Genesis Urban and Rural Development Society (Hyderabad, India), he has published 24 research papers in national and international journals, 8 popular articles, 4 review papers, practical manuals, 1 lead paper, 1 book, and 14 book chapters. D. P. Sharma is workingas Professor and Head in the Department of Fruit Science (Dr. YSP UHF Nauni Solan HP-173230). Born on 1st June, 1967, did his B.Sc. (Agri.) from HPKV, Palampur, College of Horticulture, Solan in 1988, MSc. and Ph.D. in the discipline of Pomology (Fruit Science) from Dr. YS Parmar, University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan in 1991 and 1995, respectively. Started his carrier as Assistant Scientist (Horticulture) at RHRSS-Tabo in Lahul,Spiti, Himachal Pradesh and served tribal area for 12½ years. During his tenure at Tabo, research work was commended by the Board of Management of University in its 57 th and 67 th meetings for his excellent work. Served as Principal Scientist and Head at HRTS and KVK, Solan at Kandaghat and grabbed first KVK award for the year 2019. Presently as Professor and Head in the Department of Fruit Science (Dr. YSP UHF Nauni Solan HP-173230). Guided 6 Ph.D. and 18 M.Sc. students in the discipline of Fruit Science. Managed more than Rs. 562 lakh funds through 16 Adhoc research project as Principal Investigator from outside funding agencies. Pioneer in installation and demonstration of solar power fencing model in Department of Fruit Science, which was adopted by State Government of Himachal Pradesh in the year of 2015-16 as Mukhya Mantri Phasal Surksha Yojna. Visited USA during the years 2021, 2022 and 2023 as member of State Level Pre-dispatch Inspection Committee (PDI) for import of planting material of temperate fruits under Himachal Pradesh- Horticulture Development Project World Bank funded. His field of specialization is Orchard Management and has more than 28 years experience in the scientific management of orchards specially fruit nutrition, canopy management and nursery growing. Introduced lateral bearing varieties of walnut presently working on replant problem in apple and peach as well as high density planting of apple. He has co-authored a book entitled Systematics of fruit and applied fruit breeding techniques, one as author E-book on Plant propagation and nursery management, 40 book chapters and 77 research and review papers to his credit published in National and International Journals. Neeraj Sankhyan, PhD, is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Dr YSPUHF, Solan, (HP) where he teaches English Language, Communication Skills and Technical Writing. He graduated from Delhi University in arts, earned his master's from IGNOU and doctorate from IIT Mandi (HP) in English Literature. His doctoral research was based on the thematic study of English poets from the conflict-affected areas of the Indian Himalayas. He is passionate about teaching, language and literature.
