This encyclopaedic work is the outcome of the well-known author's practical experience in conducting various types of civil cases. The work not only covers the Code of Civil Procedure but also the entire field of civil justice. Gujarat Law Reporter : This book is divided in 2 Volumes. Vol. 1 contains Sections 1 to 32. First Volume consists of V parts. Second Volume consists of XI parts. These classifications have been sub-divided in parts as per the scheme of the Act. For Judges lawyers and students of law this set of Vols. will prove immensely useful as each judgment cited herein reflects the principles and focal points envisaged as far as possible. As the result of the extensive amendments to the Code made by Act CIV of 1976, a number of decisions on the amended provisions have been rendered. The present edition projects the law in the light of these happenings. It has remained true to the authors' aim and approach as stated in the Preface to the first edition: A single compact volume easy to be handled and taken to Court everyday... is a need of the hour. With the sole eye on this need, the book has been compiled and put before the profession. No authorship is claimed and no views are expressed or pressed upon the lawyers. It attempts simply to collect all cases of the same type and place them under a suitable heading. Local amendments from State Legislatures and High Courts of different States have been noticed and given at the relevant places. In the citation of cases the name of parties are omitted and reference to the concerned Journal is alone given. Comments are pin-pointed and crisp. There are four Annexures. Though most of the decision have been collected some seem to have escaped notice; such as 1978 A.P. 173: (1978) 1 An. W.R. 330; holding that a universal donee who by reason of a gift enters upon possession of the donor's estate is a legal representative of the donor within the meaning of Section 2(11): 1978 Cal. 133 discussing whether right to usufruct is immovable property under Section 16, 1977 SC 1421 pointing out that the trial court should take deterrent action under Section 35-A if satisfied that a litigation was inspired by vexafied that a litigation was inspired by vexatious motives and was altogether groundness; 1978 Cal. 228 laying down that though order 2, rule 2 does not in terms apply to proceedings under the Arbitration Act there is no reason why the principle behind it should not be applied to arbitration proceedings. This perhaps cannot be helped. As a ready referencer the book is bound to be immensely popular and serve as a dependable guide to the legal practitioners. The book is a welcome publication both for its design and its execution.
