About the Book

Each portion of the text includes an example based on the section material, followed by a detailed solution. Conclusions emphasize the 'point' of the problem and a final exercise similar to the example is presented to provide challenge. This format shows how to use and apply the material on your own. The book also takes an innovative by modeling the periodic waveforms of the circuits as angular functions rather than time functions. This notation provides concise mathematical elegance in that is shortened to, and all waveform periods become 2. The material on DC-DC converters is also new and develpos a new body of theory for two-voltage-level DC-DC converters. The - ratio is the ratio of the circuit storage inductance to the inductance required for continuous inductor current operation. The ratio defines the boundary between the continuous and discontinuous conduction modes, and makes the DC-DC concerter equations much simpler functions of. In addition, MATLAB is used unstead of PSpice, because MATLAB is an excellent pedagogical tool that bridges the gap between circuit analysis and circuit simulation. In addition, circuit equations transport readily to the scripted code of an m-file, and MATLAB's variety of graphical features greatly assist in the understanding of circuit problems. To use this book effectively, you do not need to be proficient in MATLAB, because a toolbox is provided on the companion CD-ROM that allows you to use MATLAB and obtain results immediately. The toolbox provides functions to perform power computations, waveform analysis, an dcpower cocircuit designitdesign and simulations.
