Die MINT-Bildung ist eine der neuen Reformen im naturwissenschaftlichen Unterricht, die die wissenschaftlichen und kognitiven Fähigkeiten der Schüler fördert. Die MINT-Bildung wird am besten durch problembasierte Lernstrategien vermittelt, da es drei Arten des Lernens gibt, die sich über die PBL erstrecken: kognitives Lernen, inhaltliches Lernen und kollaboratives Lernen. Diese drei Arten des Lernens bilden einen konzeptionellen Rahmen, der diese Studie geleitet hat. Das Hauptziel dieser Studie besteht darin, zu messen, inwieweit der Einsatz der PBL-Strategie im MINT-Unterricht die Entwicklung der 21st century skills bei den Schülern fördert: kognitive Fähigkeiten, kollaborative Fähigkeiten und inhaltliches Wissen? Die Teilnehmer der Studie umfassten zwei Gruppen: 112 Lehrer und 1800 Schüler der 11. Klasse, die aus sieben Schulen in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten ausgewählt wurden. In dieser Studie wurde ein gemischtes methodisches Design mit mehreren Instrumenten verwendet. Es wurde ein Fragebogen für Lehrer eingesetzt, der offene und geschlossene Fragen enthielt. Die Leistungen der Schüler wurden qualitativ anhand von Rubriken und quantitativ durch die Erfassung der Schülerleistungen aus dem Robotik-Modul gemessen. Darüber hinaus wurde auch die Wahrnehmung der Schüler mithilfe einer Umfrage mit geschlossenen Fragen gemessen.
