En un recorrido fascinante que nos lleva del mundo árabe en tiempos de Mahoma a las ciudades-Estado de la Italia medieval, de la Latinoamérica de las dictaduras a la Suecia que inventó la socialdemocracia, de la caótica República de Weimar a la China imperial, El pasillo estrecho nos introduce en el que tal vez sea el proceso más fascinante de la historia: el de la obtención de la libertad. Daron Acemoglu es profesor de Economía y ocupa la cátedra Elizabeth y James Killian en el Instituto de Tecnología de Massachusetts (MIT). En 2005 recibió la medalla John Bates Clark, otorgada a economistas menores de cuarenta años que han contribuido de manera significativa al pensamiento y conocimiento económico. En 2010 la revista Foreign Policy lo señaló como uno de los 100 pensadores más influyentes. Sus principales intereses son la economía política, la economía del desarrollo, el crecimiento económico, la tecnología, los ingresos y la desigualdad salarial, el capital humano y la formación, y la economía del trabajo. Sus trabajos más recientes se centran en el papel de las instituciones en el desarrollo económico y la economía política. Daron Acemoglu is a Professor of Economics and holds the Elizabeth and James Killian Chair at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2005, he received the John Bates Clark Medal, awarded to economists under the age of forty who have made significant contributions to economic thought and knowledge. In 2010, Foreign Policy magazine named him one of the top 100 most influential thinkers. His main interests are political economy, development economics, economic growth, technology, income and wage inequality, human capital and training, and labor economics. His most recent work focuses on the role of institutions in economic development and political economy. James A. Robinson es politólogo, economista y profesor en la Universidad de Harvard. Experto en política y economía latinoamericana y africana, está considerado como uno de los mayores especialistas en estos campos. Coautor de Economic Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy, libro galardonado con numerosos premios internacionales. James A. Robinson is a political scientist, economist, and professor at Harvard University. An expert in Latin American and African politics and economics, he is considered one of the leading specialists in these fields. He is the co-author of Economic Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy, a book that has won numerous international awards.
