The Human Machine: Level 1100 Reader (K) (CEFR B1) is a contemporary reimagining of Arnold Bennett's The Human Machine (1905), which focuses on self-improvement and the mastery of the mind for a more enriched daily life. Bennett provides insights into personal growth and understanding the human mind to achieve a more fulfilling existence. About the Author :
Enoch Arnold Bennett, better known as Arnold Bennett, was an English author and novelist who made important contributions to literature in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was born on May 27, 1867, in Hanley, Staffordshire. His father, a lawyer, wanted him to become a lawyer like him, but Bennett was more interested in writing. After working at a law office in London for a short period of time, he decided to pursue a career in literature full time, starting in 1900.Bennett produced a large amount of work during his lifetime. He wrote 34 novels, seven volumes of short stories, 13 plays, and a daily journal of over a million words. Apart from his novels and plays, he also wrote articles and stories for more than 100 newspapers and periodicals. This made him one of the most financially successful British authors of his time.Bennett's life was cut short when he got typhoid fever and passed away in 1931. He contracted it from drinking tap water during a trip to France. His death marked the end of a productive and influential writing career. Emily Aitken is a highly experienced Japanese-English translator, with expertise in checking and proofreading. She currently resides in Edinburgh, Scotland, and has a specialization in audiovisual translation. John McLean is an associate professor at Yasuda Women's University in Hiroshima, where he oversees the interpreting stream. He has provided interpretation services for a wide range of notable figures, including world-class athletes (Simone Biles, Kohei Uchimura), Japanese film stars (Nana Komatsu, Kentaro Sakaguchi), officials (Kazumi Matsui, Mayor of Hiroshima), and multiple media outlets such as NBC, CBC, Al Jazeera, AP, Reuters, Kyodo, TV Asahi, RCC, and Chugoku Shimbun. Additionally, John collaborates with Japanese film directors, translating scripts and subtitling films, and supports upcoming Japanese filmmakers at the Berlin Film Festival through his involvement with the Japanese Government Agency for Cultural Affairs.

Review :
"Even by the age of thirty, most of us don't really understand how our own bodies and minds work. We don't take time to learn how to live without stress and to make the most of our lives." "Our brains fail us sometimes because they are not well-trained. They can be lazy or distracted." "Our tone shows how we feel, and it affects our attitude and behavior." "It's not the big things that cause problems, but the little things that happen often."
