About the Book

Max von Moos ( 9 3- 979) ist ein bedeutender Vertreter der modernen Schweizer Malerei. In seiner Malerei kultivierte er den Zweifel als bildgenerierendes Prinzip. Eine aus Bruchstücken zusammengesetzte Bildordnung entsprach seiner Konzeption von Wahrhaftigkeit. Es gibt in seiner Kunst kein fugenloses Bild der Welt. Er hat, wie er selber sagte, in Trauer schön gemalt. Diese Bilder lautlosen Entsetzens und blinden Zorns lassen offen, an wen sie sich wenden, in wessen Namen sie klagen und wovor sie warnen. Sein Surrealismus eignet sich nicht zum Träumen. In einer Malerei von bemerkenswerter technischer Meisterschaft schildert dieser Künstler Weltangst und das Versagen der Wahrnehmungs- und Ausdrucksfähigkeit angesichts einer Unheil kündenden Wirklichkeit. Es gibt Kunstwerke, die den Blick wie ein Auge anziehen, festhalten und führen. Der vorliegende Text befasst sich dagegen mit einer Bildwelt, vor deren Tragik wir die Augen verschliessen möchten, deren künstlerisch konstruktive Auffassung aber paradoxerweise das Sehen stimuliert und trägt. Der grossformatige Band erscheint zur gleichnamigen Ausstellung im Kunstmuseum Luzern ( 5. Dezember 2 bis 3. März 2 2)
