Versammelt sind in diesem Band die Beiträge zweier althistorischer Sektionen des Historikertages 2004 in Kiel zu „Kommunikation und Raum“ und einer Tagung in Innsbruck zu „Kulturellen Begegnungsmustern jenseits der Levante“ im Jahre 2005. Alle drei Veranstaltungen widmeten sich den grenzüberschreitenden Kontakten zwischen Orient und Okzident in der Antike sowie Orientbildern in Antike und Gegenwart. Jahrhunderts.

About the Author :
Robert Rollinger ist Professor am Institut für Alte Geschichte und Altorientalistik der Universität Innsbruck. Professor für Alte Geschichte (i.R.) an der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, zahlreiche Publikationen zur Geschichte des vorislamischen Irans und Zentralasiens und ihrer Beziehungen zur Mittelmeerwelt, zur griechisch-römischen Sozialgeschichte und zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte.
