About the Book

Bones and All is a romantic horror film directed by Luca Guadagnino from a screenplay by David Kajganich, based on the 2015 novel Bones and All by Camille DeAngelis. This volume features the set photography by Yannis Drakoulidis in an informal, behind-the-scenes encounter with the director's first US film. Moving through four states across the Midwest and locations ranging from small towns to vast open landscapes, the work pays homage to the film’s visual language while capturing intimate, in-between moments of the main protagonists and the director at work. Complemented by images from the edges of the set, the narrative unfolds as a visual journey that candidly reveals details of the filmmaking process. Bones and All stars Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet as a pair of young cannibals who develop feelings for each other on a road trip across the United States. Michael Stuhlbarg, André Holland, Chloë Sevigny, Jessica Harper, Jake Horowitz, and Mark Rylance appear in supporting roles. Yannis Drakoulidis is a photographer based in Athens, Greece. He studied photography at the Arts Institute of Bournemouth in the UK and has worked with numerous publications, institutions, and commercial clients. Working across disciplines, his work has also been presented in exhibitions and featured in photo publications. In recent years, his focus has shifted toward film, where he works as a stills photographer on international productions. Luca Guadagnino is an Italian filmmaker celebrated for emotionally rich, visually immersive, and genre-bending cinema. Over more than two decades, he has directed, written, and produced over twenty feature films, including Call Me by Your Name, Suspiria, Io sono l'Amore, Challengers, and Queer. Bones and All won him the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival in 2022. Luca Guadagnino was nominated for an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, and three BAFTAs.
