Afrika gilt als Krisenkontinent. Trotz dieses Afropessimismus wird die heutige Krise bewaeltigt, um langfristig Versorgungssicherheit zu schaffen. Dabei sind Organisationsformen zentral, welche nebst materiellen auch psychosoziale Hilfestellungen bieten. Die Autorinnen und Autoren thematisieren solche alltaeglichen Ueberlebensbemuehungen und vergleichen sie mit den Problemlagen, den unguenstigen Rahmenbedingungen und den Machtverhaeltnissen. Dadurch wird die Dynamik fassbar, in welcher die Menschen zwar mit vielfaeltigen Strategien handeln, deren eng gezogenen Grenzen sie sich aber trotz der inneren Logik nicht entziehen koennen. Das vorliegende Buch knuepft bei diesen Widerspruechen an, um zwischen Geschichte, Alltagsbewaeltigung und (Entwicklungs-)Politik zu vermitteln und einen Bogen zwischen Forschung und Praxis zu spannen. Dans l'opinion publique, l'Afrique passe pour un continent totalement sinistre. Mais cet afro-pessimisme ne doit pas sous-entendre que tout developpement y soit devenu impossible, surtout a long terme. Sans se dissimuler les difficultes, les auteurs de ce livre se preoccupent d'abord des strategies mises en oeuvre pour vivre, ou plutot survivre quotidiennement en Afrique et en soulignent toute la dynamique a travers les cas etudies. Meme si les Africains sont avant tout victimes des effets de la mondialisation de l'economie, ils ne sont pas demunis d'imagination et essaient de trouver des solutions aux problemes graves d'une crise economique sans precedent. Les articles reunis ici se situent a mi-chemin entre l'histoire et l'actualite, entre la politique et les politiques de developpement. Ils ouvrent de nouvelles perspectives dans ce domaine en associant recherche scientifique et pratique du developpement.
