About the Book

With over 100 million records sold, the Bay City Rollers provoked fan hysteria in millions of ecstatically screaming girls all over the world - Rollermania ruled. Their most popular song "Bye Bye Baby" still gives many people goosebumps. Their songs topped the charts worldwide, and they scored number one hits on US single and LP charts, a feat managed previously only by the Beatles. Bubi Heilemann had a closer relationship with the band than any other photographer. Bubi shows the real people behind the carefully constructed image of the fresh-faced Scottish boys in whose presence whole rows of fans fainted in ecstasy. The photos in this unique book are drawn from Heilemann's personal archives and include many previously unpublished images that show the Rollers the way they really were. The book includes a "Rock'n'Roll Love Letter" from Les McKeown, lead singer of the Bay City Rollers: "Out of all the people I got to know over the course of my career, only one or two could be called true friends. One of them is Bubi Heilemann. We got along right away, shared a sense of humour and a certain passion for beautiful women. Bubi followed the incredible phenomenon that was BCR around the globe with his camera. He caught a glimpse of the fashionable, unusual and sometimes even dark and sinister world of the Bay City Rollers. Bubi was one of the very few people who had unlimited access to this world. Only few people know the truth about the Bay City Rollers - one of them is Bubi Heilemann."

About the Author :
The photographer Wolfgang "Bubi" Heilemann was one of the most renowned celebrity photographers of the 70s. He had an exclusive contract with BRAVO, the music magazine with the largest circulation in Europe, and every superstar of the period posed for his lens. Not many people experienced the celebrities of this decade as intimately as Bubi, and he has enduringly shaped their public image. Bubi Heilemann can proudly boast over 250 magazine covers as well as countless posters and album covers. Literally millions of slides are stored in his archive, among them highly intriguing and previously unpublished pictures of superstars like ABBA, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Bee Gees, T. Rex, The Sweet, and many other rock heroes. Bubi's Bay City Rollers photography was also commissioned by BRAVO. However, only a fraction of Bubi's photographs were actually published in BRAVO or other magazines. While some of the pictures used for this book have become classics, very many of them have not been available to the public before - a feast for every die-hard Bay City Rollers lover.

Frankische Nachrichten "This coffee-table book unites 350 brilliant images of performances and photo-sessions, accompanies by the detailed biography by Sabine Thomas, who was once also addicted to Rollermaniai."
