Die in Band I gesammelten Studienschriften entstanden im Kontext der Str mungen, wie sie im aufgew hlten West-Berlin der 1980er Jahre herrschten, einen wahren Wirbelsturm entfachend. Neben Paris war Berlin zu jener Zeit eindeutig das geistige Zentrum Europas. Die Berufungspolitik hatte eine gro e Zahl der brillantesten und pointiertesten Kr fte an die Universit ten der Stadt berufen. Die Vertreter der neuen franz sischen Philosophie waren regelm ig zu Gast. Nietzsche und die Psychoanalyse, insbesondere in der Auslegung Jacques Lacans, sowie Michel Foucault hatten Karl Marx und die Frankfurter Schule als geistige Leitlinien abgel st, ohne diese v llig zu verwerfen. Auch politisch war der Westteil aufgew hlt durch die Hausbesetzerbewegung, die nach Berlin bergeschwappt war und ab einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt vehement bek mpft wurde. Anders als andere Bewegungen der damaligen Zeit richtete sie sich deutlich gegen bestehende Besitzverh ltnisse und damit gegen eine der Grundlagen der bestehenden Gesellschaft. Man merkt den hier vorgelegten Texten deutlich dieses geistige und politische Brodeln an. In Band II dagegen geht es ruhiger zu. Hier wird in den abgedruckten Vortr gen sozusagen der Boden entworfen ber den sich die Gedanken des ersten Bandes erheben. Es ist der Boden der abendl ndischen Politik und Philosophie. Ihren Anf ngen wird in den meisten Arbeiten nachgegangen. In diesem Sinne erg nzen sich also beide B nde und verweisen aufeinander. Von daher sind sie Zeitdokumente wie Grundlagentexte. Dar ber hinaus verweisen sie aber auf Probleme, die h chst aktuell sind und das heutige wie vermutlich auch das k nftige Denken antreiben.
