Israel und Palästina - Was sich heute als politisch scheinbar ausweglose Situation präsentiert, entsprang einst dem optimistischen, wenn auch naiven Traum, mit der Gründung des Staates Israel 1948 eine friedliche Gesellschaft für alle Religionen zu errichten. Dazu rief der Nationalökonom Edgar Salin (1892-1974) im Jahr 1958 das »Israel Economic and Sociological Research Project (IESRP)« ins Leben, das eine zentrale Rolle bei der Errichtung der »neuen Städte« in Israel spielen sollte. Die Beiträge spüren diesem Projekt und seiner kulturpolitischen Bedeutung, aber auch seiner Nähe zu Planungsdebatten und Aufbaufragen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland nun erstmals systematisch nach. Mit Beiträgen von Eliezer Ben-Rafael, Meron Benvenisti, Jörn Düwel, Zvi Efrat, Anton Föllmi, Rachel Kallus, Ruth Kark, Anna Minta, Andreas Nachama, Willi Oberkrome, Martin Peschken, Bertram Schefold, Axel Schildt, Julius H. About the Author :
Karin Wilhelm (Prof. Dr. Mag. Art.) lehrte an der Technischen Universität Graz und der Technischen Universität Braunschweig. Sie forscht zu Urbanistik als Kulturtheorie im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert und zu Prozessen des Kulturtransfers (Mentalitätsgeschichte Österreichs und der BRD in Architektur und Städtebau nach 1945). Kerstin Gust ist Autorin, Kuratorin und konzipiert Projekte an der Schnittstelle von Architektur, Urbanismus und Cultural Studies.
