Geschichtsmuseen und Gedenkorte vermittelten lange Zeit vor allem nationale Geschichtsbilder. Im vereinten Europa hingegen wächst die Idee eines entnationalisierten kollektiven Gedenkens. Diese Diskrepanz wird besonders in Grenzräumen ersichtlich, in denen ehemals Staaten mit ihren konträren Deutungen der Vergangenheit konkurrierten. Am Beispiel des nordostitalienischen Grenzraums entwerfen deutsche, italienische und slowenische Wissenschaftler_innen in diesem Buch ein umfassendes Panorama einer neuen demokratischen Erinnerungskultur. Sie zeigen die tiefgreifenden Folgen für das öffentliche Gedenken und die Museums- und Geschichtsdidaktik in internationaler und interdisziplinärer Perspektive auf.

About the Author :
Patrick Ostermann (Dr. habil.) ist Privatdozent an der TU Dresden mit Lehrbefugnis für Neuere und Neueste Geschichte und Didaktik der Geschichte in Verbindung mit Kultursoziologie und kommissarischer Studiendirektor am Rhein-Wied-Gymnasium in Neuwied. Claudia Müller (Dipl.-Soz.) promoviert zur italienischen Kulturgeschichte und ist wissenschaftliche Koordinatorin am Italien-Zentrum der Technischen Universität Dresden. Karl-Siegbert Rehberg (Prof. Dr. phil. habil.) hat eine Forschungsprofessur für Soziologische Theorie, Theoriegeschichte und Kultursoziologie an der Technischen Universität Dresden inne. Von 2003 bis 2007 war er Vorsitzender der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Soziologie. Seit 2010 ist er Direktor des Dresdner Instituts für Kulturstudien e.V.
