About the Book

New theater forms keep being developed together with children and adolescents, who are taken seriously as agents and experts of their everyday life: Their knowledge, their experiences and personalities are included - it is no longer about educating them through theater. Working with laymen has long become an important part of new forms of professional theater. This way, theater is becoming something like a social experiment, where everyone can contribute something with their personality. This creates spaces for creativity beyond set pedagogic goals. For the very first time, this volume comprehensively addresses the phenomenon with contributions by renowned scientists, commentaries on plays, and interviews with artists.

About the Author :
Patrick Primavesi ist Professor für Theaterwissenschaft an der Universität Leipzig und Direktor des Tanzarchivs Leipzig. Jan Deck ist Politikwissenschaftler, lebt in Frankfurt/Main und arbeitet als freier Dramaturg, Regisseur und Kurator, u.a. als Gründungsmitglied der Performancegruppe »profikollektion« und bei dem postmigrantischen Ensemble »theaterperipherie«. Seit über zehn Jahren arbeitet er für den hessischen Landesverband »laPROF«, seine Schwerpunkte sind Lobbyarbeit, Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit sowie Veranstaltungen. Er ist Mitglied verschiedener Juries und Beiräte, kuratiert Tagungen, Festivals und Labore. Als Herausgeber und Autor beschäftigt er sich mit verschiedenen Aspekten von Kunst und Gesellschaft.
