Inhaltsangabe: Problemstellung: Hängt der Erfolg eines Unternehmens von der Intelligenz der Beschäftigten ab? Welche Faktoren spielen hierbei eine Rolle? Seit der französische Psychologe Alfred Binet zu Beginn unseres Jahrhunderts erstmals Intelligenztests durchführte, nehmen sich immer mehr Psychologen und Verhaltensforscher dieses Themas an. Die Anforderung an den Menschen in der heutigen post-industriellen Informationsgesellschaft bewegen sich immer mehr in Richtung sozial-emotionaler Kompetenzen wie Teamfähigkeit, Kooperation, Stressbewältigung, Einfühlungsvermögen oder Anpassungsfähigkeit. In jüngster Zeit betonen wissenschaftliche Studien die Relevanz solcher kreativen und sozial-emotionalen Faktoren als Bestandteil der Bestimmung eines ganzheitlichen Intelligenzquotienten. Der Einfluss dieser „weichen" Fähigkeiten auf Lebenserfolg, Effizienz und Glücksgefühl mag für viele selbstverständlich sein, das Wissen über ein Lernkonzept oder eine Strategie zur Verbesserung der persönlichen sozial-emotionalen Kompetenzen fehlt jedoch meist. Dies ist der Ansatzpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit. Geschichte und Entwicklung der Intelligenzforschung werden bis zum heutigen Stand ausführlich erläutert. Dabei wird besonderen Wert auf die sozial-emotionalen Komponenten und deren Relevanz in Unternehmen gelegt. Eine empirische Untersuchung im Rahmen dieser Arbeit durchleuchtet die Korrelation zwischen Emotionaler Intelligenz und der Arbeitsleistung von Angestellten in einem Call-Center, ein typisches Beispiel, wo sozial-emotionale Kompetenzen nachvollziehbar zum Unternehmenserfolg beitragen. Das Untersuchungsergebnis unterstützt die These, dass ein hohes Niveau sozial-emotionaler Kompetenzen der Mitarbeiter in einem Unternehmen den Grad der Nutzung des geistigen Kapitals und somit der Produktivität bestimmt.
