Moore geh�ren zu den bedeutendsten Kohlenstoffspeichern der Erde. Durch menschliche Einfl�sse, zumeist in Form landwirtschaftlicher Nutzung, kommt es zur St�rung dieser nat�rlichen Kohlenstoffsenke. Damit verbunden ist ein Beitrag zum anthropogenen Treibhauseffekt, der bislang weder in der �ffentlichen Wahrnehmung ausreichend bekannt ist noch auf der politischen Agenda angemessen ber�cksichtigt wird. �ber ihre Funktion als Kohlenstoffsenke hinaus stellen Moore zahlreiche weitere f�r den Menschen wichtige Leistungen zur Verf�gung. Diese so genannten �kosystemdienstleistungen besitzen einen hohen �konomischen Wert f�r die Gesellschaft. Ein wichtiges umweltpolitisches Ziel ist daher ihre effiziente und effektive Honorierung. Aufgrund des hohen Anteils der anthropogenen Nutzung von Moorfl�chen in Deutschland kommt hier einer Revitalisierung ein hoher Stellenwert zu. Jan Felix K�bbing, Markus Groth und Goddert von Oheimb erarbeiten daher in ihrer vorliegenden Studie die Grundlagen, um mit Hilfe einer �konomischen Bewertung zu ermitteln, welche M�glichkeiten, Potenziale und Grenzen die Renaturierung von Niedermooren bietet. Basierend auf einer Analyse der wichtigsten bisherigen Forschungsarbeiten zeigt sich, dass dabei dem Anbau von Paludikulturen - insbesondere von Schwarzerlen - eine gro�e Bedeutung zukommt. Gleichwohl macht das Buch deutlich, dass noch viele Fragen beantwortet werden m�ssen, um die Bewertung von Moorrenaturierungen zu verbessern. Durch die Synthese und Aufbereitung grundlegender Forschungsergebnisse sowie die Diskussion weiterhin bestehender Herausforderungen bildet das Buch insgesamt einen fokussierten und verst�ndlichen Ausgangspunkt f�r zuk�nftig in der Praxis durchzuf�hrende �konomische Bewertungen, wobei die Kosten-Effizienz-Analyse im Mittelpunkt steht. Das Buch richtet sich insbesondere an Wissenschaftler sowie Entscheidungstr�ger in Politik, Wirtschaft und Fachverwaltungen. Markus Groth ist in Hamburg wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter in der Abteilung �konomie und Politik am Climate Service Center (CSC) des Helmholtz-Zentrums Geesthacht.
