About the Book

COST Action 2103 ‘Advance Voice Function Assessment’ (www.cost2103.eu) is a joint initiative of voice and speech processing teams of engineers and physicists and of the European Laryngological Research Group (ELRG) under the umbrella of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST). Currently 17 countries are participating in Action 2103. Its main objective is to create a European network of voice experts by bringing together research institutions, universities, and companies involved in signal processing and voice disorders. The aim is to gain new insights into basic research problems as well as clinical/therapeutic applications through interdisciplinary cooperation. This issue contains six publications which show the results of the cooperation of bioengineers, biophysicists, and physicians in COST Action 2103. The contributions transfer the latest bioengineering approaches of voice production and voice pathologies into clinical application. In order to increase the knowledge among voice professionals on biophysical and acoustic-phonetic processes underlying voice pathology this publication will be indispensable to phoniatricians, logopedists, speech-language pathologists, bioengineers and other voice professionals.
