Zeitgenössische atheistische und agnostische Kritiker von Religion und Theologie - wie der Oxforder Evolutionsbiologe Richard Dawkins in seinem Bestseller The God Delusion ("Der Gotteswahn") - behaupten das: Solche Dialoginteressen würden nur verschleiern, dass Religion und Theologie gar keinen wissenschaftlich erschließbaren Gegenstandsbereich hätten. Der Dialog zwischen Theologie und Naturwissenschaften wurde in den letzten dreißig Jahren international vor allem in englischer Sprache geführt. Deshalb erscheint auch dieser Band auf Englisch. Er will zeigen, welche Beiträge die Theologie zu diesem Dialog leisten kann - nicht nur unter hoch spezialisierten Fachleuten, sondern auch an Universitäten und Schulen, in Gemeinden, Akademien und Gesprächskreisen. Die Theologie muss nicht nur falsche Wahrnehmungen und szientistisch-fundamentalistische Propaganda von außen korrigieren. Sie muss auch konstruktiv theologische Themen ins Gespräch einbringen, um Brücken zu bauen. Auf den Gebieten der Schöpfungslehre, der Eschatologie und der Anthropologie gibt dieses Buch dazu Impulse.

Johannes Eurich Professor für Praktische Theologie/Diakoniewissenschaft und Direktor des Diakoniewissenschaftlichen Instituts der Universität Heidelberg. Thomas, Günter, Prof. Dr. theol.
